Community Gatherings
There are many opportunities for the whole community to gather at events throughout the year. These include:
Informational Gatherings, including:
- Back-to-School Night, attended by all parents in September.
- Montessori curriculum nights, offering an in-depth look at a curriculum area.
- Parenting workshops, which explore a particular issue or concern.
- The annual State of the School meeting.
Social Gatherings, including:
- Classroom potlucks, a great opportunity at the beginning of the year for parents to get to know each other.
- Diversity Committee picnic, held annually on an afternoon in May.
Special Events, including:
- Peace Celebration, an opportunity for us to come together and share songs, poems, and thoughts about peace near International Peace Day in September..
- Harvest Gathering, where we come together to sing and share bread on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
- Solstice Celebration, our celebration of the winter solstice where the whole school gathers in the evening off-site to sing songs and celebrate the season.
- Culmination, our evening celebration on the last day of school, celebrating the movement of students between programs, and the graduation of our sixth year students. In fair weather, it is followed by an on-site picnic.
