The curriculum in Children’s House includes:
Art (expressing emotions and ideas using various formats and sizes, individually and cooperatively)
Geography (the planet earth, its continents, our town)
Grace and Courtesy (internalizing the social graces that allow a
group to work together in a respectful and productive way, including
peer problem solving)
History (developing a sense of time and its passage, including their personal history)
Imaginary Play (in the loft, and on the playground)
Language (encompassing both whole language and phonics, written expression (drawing and writing), reading)
Mathematics (seriation, one-to-one correspondence, grouping, counting, and classification)
Music (singing, movement games, work with instruments)
Peace Education (learning to respect individual and group differences, peaceful conflict resolution, positive self-esteem)
Physical Activity (through regular yoga and twice-daily playground time)
Practical Life (helping children to perfect their body movements,
increase their ability to concentrate, develop coordination and learn
about care of the self and the environment)
Science (the exploration of physical and biological sciences)
Sensorial (teaching children to identify, compare and classify the
information that comes to them through vision, touch, hearing, smell
and taste)
