We believe that it is important for the child and parent to feel
comfortable in their newly chosen school. Therefore, in September,
Children’s House has a several-day phase-in program for new students.
For the first two days, a parent or guardian accompanies the new child
to their classroom. While the child gets used to the classroom routines
and activities, the parent sits in a chair on the perimeter of the
classroom--near enough so that their presence is felt, but far enough
for the child to experience independence. The phase-in period formally
lasts for two to three days, depending on the needs of the child.
"I am impressed! Not only with the way my children have become independent and creative learners, but also with how they've learned to hold themselves to such high standards. My kids have learned to work and learn for the love of it."
